I for one am pleased that February is now here. It seems most of January there has been some kind of bug going around our house. At some point or another everyone has been poorly.

When Sickness hits and no one sleeps my anxiety soars and depression darkens.

I’m hoping we are almost through the sickness days now. But if your not and you still have mum duties you maybe wondering just how your going to survive.

Here’s a few tips that’s got me through the past month.

  1. Box sets. – I’ve took to Netflix and during nap times I’ve allowed myself to snuggle to bed with a cuppa and watch a cheesy Netflix box set. Some of my faves are the good place, Chesapeake shores, unbreakable kimmy Schmidt.
  2. Cuppa. I’ve changed up my cuppa and opted for a vitamin infused one. You can get some really delicious teas now that claim to help boost your vitamin intake. I’m not sure how true they are but it makes me feel a little better.
  3. Make sure you break cabin fever. Wrap everyone up warm and just have a walk around the block. There’s nothing big like more than being all warm and toasty indoors. So going out into the fresh air really can help you feel a little better.
  4. Online shop. Load your trolly with fresh fruit and veg and some easy meals for the week.
  5. Make sure you eat healthy but simple. When your tired and low don’t over complicate meals. How about just meat and a couple of different frozen veg. Frozen veg doesn’t need preparation and is just as healthy as fresh.
  6. Give in to tech. A few days of using their tablet isn’t going to scar them. Just let them play or watch kids tube. It will give you a break for a while.
  7. Get snuggling on the sofa. Put on a movie. Give them some snacks. Just relax.
  8. Sleep when everyone else does. Simple. Go to bed early with the kids. Take a nap if they do.
  9. Don’t stress about the house work. It will still be there when you feel a little better. Just do what you need to get by.
  10. Enlist some help. I’m so lucky to have my mum visit most days and help us around the house. I have to say over the past week she has done loads including cooking meals and helping bath the kids.

Bonus tip – Remember it will pass you will all be better soon.

You got this!

I hope this helps you get through those endless days of sickness.

December Word of the Month!

Oh gosh we are here already! I almost forgot to post this as I hurtled along November oblivious to what the date is!

So Decembers word of the month

The last one – Im not going to continue his in 2019 as Im not really sure anyone even reads it Ha!

My word this month is Gratitude.

December is all about coming together and feeling all the festiveness that it brings. getting caught in the magic the sparkle and the fun!

If we are not careful we can forget to show how grateful we are. we can overwhelm ourselves with sending gifts  that are meaningless.

This Month I want to let everyone around me know just how grateful I am for them!

I’m grateful for having family close by that will have the kids when an opportunity arrises for me to attend an event.

Grateful to my friends who support my anxious moments and keep me grounded with good advise or to the point wit!

Grateful to online friends who get me and have been through similar experiences It really is good to know your not alone!

Grateful that my christmases are now so full and exciting because we are a family and have kids to share the magic with! Christmas is all about the kids isn’t it?

and

Grateful to my husband who puts up with me. put up with my wrong kind of OCD, my whims, my moans, my low moods and everything else!

So thanks everyone for being in my life and I hope you have an amazing December.

Now anyone for a snowball?

2018 A year in review!

Well I hope you’ve all had an amazing Christmas and are ready to head into 2019! Can you believe we are the end of the year already?

Health

So much has happened this year I started the Year poorly with Gallstones since then Ive had my entire Gallbladder removed.

All of the children came down with chicken pox! At least its all over and done with. You can only catch it once right?

I rejoined the spa that I was a member at so that I could start swimming again only to lapse after my gallbladder op!

I also vowed to become healthier and eat better! Again after my gallbladder came out I fell back into old ways.

As soon as the dark nights hit my mental Health deteriorated again and I’m currently working on reducing my stress and actively trying to do things to cut my anxiety!

Travel

This year I was adamant that I was going to make the most of life, give our family amazing memories and explore new places.

We started the year at a forest lodge in the middle of Norfolk  Soaking up the forest and hoping in the hottub!

We also headed to the Norfolk coast to the amazing Mill Farm Eco Barn It was such an amazing holiday for all of our family we spent time at the beach, evenings at the arcades playing the slot machines, We ate fish n chips and in true Spencer style took mystery road trips by looking at a map and just driving!

Before the Summer Holidays hit We hopped on a plane to our favorite destination for the littlest twins first holiday abroad. Lanzarote is like our second home!

Towards the end of the summer Holidays we surprised the kids with a train ride to France and more importantly to Disneyland! I think me and Chris were as excited if not more than the kids. Its just so magical.

Homeschool

We took the kids out of school to try our hand at home schooling. there just wasn’t enough hours in the day to get everything done.

I really admire everyone who is on the home school journey but at the moment it’s not for me. I barely have any time while they are at school to get everything done that I want to.

Work, money, Blogging

Ive learnt this year that I’m shit at money. I posted through the year about our family hitting crisis point. In life and in money. Unfortunately barely anything has changed

I really need to get a grip of our finances this new year. It a big source of stress for us all.

I haven’t been consistent enough online to hit those magic “influencer” numbers. I have to realise I have a family and home that come before you all. I remembered through the year though I share our life because I like doing it. I like being creative. I have lost a little of my creativity on my insta grid lately in favour of just getting the post up for consistency. I want to use my creativity more and set up photos yes I know people see this as fake sometimes but I like the creative aspect of it. My dad when I was younger was always playing around with setting up photographs of wine and cheese boards etc.

I think that’s about it for my 2018 round up.

Thanks for joining us this year and being part of our family.

I hope you’ll stick around in 2019 for more chaos, adventures, and creativity.

Happy New Year.

Easter Bucket List

Today is the first day of the Easter half term for most people.

It is also Good Friday for some reason the holidays have started dead on Easter weekend which means there isn’t much time for easter crafting before Easter Sunday.

img_7694.jpg

However There are a few Easterish type things I’d like to do with the kiddos over the net week or so.

  • Make Easter costumes.

Melody really wants to dress as the easter bunny and who am I to stop her?

  • Take part in Grandma’s Easter Egg hunt

Each year she invites the whole family around for an egg hunt in her garden and a buffet tea afterwards. Its great building these memories with the kids. Some of the family they wouldn’t really see otherwise.

  • Family Fun day at a local farm shop / cafe

We have only recently discovered this cafe. We went for Chris’s mum & Dads 50th wedding anniversary. Anyway the are holding a family fun day with crafts and food and characters so I thought we would head over and join in.

I thought if the weather is nice we could go along It might be quite nice to take the walk around the lake and feed the ducks on the way.

  • Easter themed worksheets

If the weather is as bad as it has predicted I dont want the kids on the I Pads all week so I’m going to print off some colouring sheets and word searches to keep them busy.

  • Cinema Trip

I want to see Peter Rabbit and I’m sure the kids do too! I have recently found out i can take the babies with me to the cinema too so that means I dont have to get anyone else to baby sit if I want to take the big two.

We have never yet been to Belton House but friends of ours say its amazing I want to make our first visit over the next couple of weeks with our new national trust membership.

  • Garden prep

I have some seeds that I need to start off so we really need to get this done over the next week too.

Thats just some of the activities I’m planning for over easter.

What are you up to?

Have you already broke up for your half term?

Grateful Sunday!

This week I decided to start a daily gratitude list.

IMG_1633.jpg

I have done it before both on my own and as a family – We would send our list to each other (Myself Hubby & Stepson) via our family messenger group! It really helped especially when hubby worked away and with stepson only being here at weekends anyway!

Gratitude lists or journals can really benefit your mental health. They help you focus on the good things of the day, give you 5 – 10 minutes of calm, and when you’re having a bad day you can look back and see all the good things you have written in the past!

To keep me accountable for writing out my list I will post a few of the top things I’ve been grateful for each week!

My List for Sunday 29th October 2017

  • Being half term I have been able to spend some quality time with the big Twins
  • My New cord dress ( I think it may become my fave outfit!)
  • Great friends that live nearby
  • My Mum (AKA Nanny Sue) Giving me a break from the midnight feed so I could catch up on sleep. I think she may feature a lot in these lists!
  • My Hubby for being home when he can
  • Our garden – Hubby Pushed himself over the summer to create an amazing space for our family
  • Family cinema Night – We watched Polar Express, I made hot Chocolate, & We had popcorn

Half Term Bucket List

Just one More week of school and its half term again!

As I was indisposed during most of the Summer holidays  I plan on making the most of this Half Term.

There are loads of things I want to do but I will still be recovering so I’m aware I need to not do too much.

I plan on utilising the grandparents for the small twins while I try and get a bit of quality time with the big two.

-Eating healthy
Art
Yoga
Exercise
Gratitude lists
Declutter
Be in the moment
Let it out
Talk
Get enough sleep (1)

  • Pumpkin Picking – There is a farm nearby that has activities to do like a bouncy castle, tractor ride and more. It looks like a great activity for me and the big two to do!
  • Film Afternoon – I think we might have an afternoon snuggled on the couch watching a couple of dare I say Christmas films!
  • Craft – I have bought some craft supplies to make some Christmas cards I saw on Pinterest. I think I might buy a roll of kraft paper too and make some gift wrap!
  • Kite Flying – I think we will take a walk to the park on a blustery day an take our mini kites.
  • Baking  – M has asked if we can do some baking so we might have a go at something halloweeny!
  • Soft Play – J has asked to go to a big soft play with a big slide! I’m not sure if we will make it to the one he is thinking of but we might get to the local one during the week when I need a bit of a rest & decent coffee!

Here is what we got up to last year at October Half Term!

Let me know what your up to this Half Term
