Happy new year!

Wait, what do you mean it’s already the 14th?

I know the year technically starts on January 1st but for me it starts with the first full week of usual routines.

That is today!

Last week we were still in Lanzarote so no usual routine there.

In years gone by I’ve worked back stage at the panto which ran into the first week of January so I missed the new year then too!

So new year what does that mean exactly?

Is it time to give up chocolate, alcohol or even meat like some of you who may be taking part in veganuary?

In years past it’s actually meant promising to be better at adulthood, parenting or just life in general.

However this year although I have goals to become better at life I want it to be a year where I actually stick to being a better version of me. Creating a better family unit where everyone remembers happy adventures.

So for the past few weeks I’ve been studying better ways to help me achieve my goals.

Health & me.

Remember this post a while back where I said I wanted to get fit before I turned 40?

Well as of today there is only 558 days (That’s DAYS!) left until I reach that the big 4 0.

So I need to start getting my ass in gear.

I’ve already started getting more movement into my day by doing my #20minwalkaday last week I also renewed my membership to the spa so that I can swim 2-3 times a week.

Eating better is also part of this. I need to make more meals from scratch the kids however prefer just fish and chips and McDonalds which is fine for a treat every now and again but I have a plan to get them helping in the kitchen and choosing healthier options. another post on this will be coming soon!

DeClutter  & Organisation

Ive been decluttering for the past what feels like 20 years! I headed to Skegness when I was 19 with a rucksack and a duffle bag with all of my possessions in! Since then Ive added and added to my stuff. Not everything in the house is mine however so we all need to get on board with the declutter and hopefully live more minimal once and for all!

I think with less stuff to organise I could in time become a more organised person. Its not something that comes natural for me so I will need to practice until I am!

I need to make more of an effort to spend one night (No Kids) with chris each month! a date night, morning whatever. but some time to remember who we were before the kids came along!

I also need to form better relationships with the big kids. Since the littlest twins arrived i haven’t had much time for the big two. I need to put more effort into giving us some quality time.

Work & Money

I’m not very good at money stuff. I never have been. But I really want to get on top of our household finances this year so that our out goings are less and or debts are all paid off!

All of these categories really deserve a post of their own to explain in more detail and to let you know how I’m getting in in each. I’m hoping that during the year I can post regular updates on each.

Thanks for taking the time to follow my journey

Let me know what you goals for 2019 are or if you set a resolution but have already broken it!

I love to read your comments it makes me feel a little more connected to you.

Nina x

I also did a little video on  my goals for 2019!

2018 A year in review!

Well I hope you’ve all had an amazing Christmas and are ready to head into 2019! Can you believe we are the end of the year already?

So much has happened this year I started the Year poorly with Gallstones since then Ive had my entire Gallbladder removed.

All of the children came down with chicken pox! At least its all over and done with. You can only catch it once right?

I rejoined the spa that I was a member at so that I could start swimming again only to lapse after my gallbladder op!

I also vowed to become healthier and eat better! Again after my gallbladder came out I fell back into old ways.

As soon as the dark nights hit my mental Health deteriorated again and I’m currently working on reducing my stress and actively trying to do things to cut my anxiety!

This year I was adamant that I was going to make the most of life, give our family amazing memories and explore new places.

We started the year at a forest lodge in the middle of Norfolk  Soaking up the forest and hoping in the hottub!

We also headed to the Norfolk coast to the amazing Mill Farm Eco Barn It was such an amazing holiday for all of our family we spent time at the beach, evenings at the arcades playing the slot machines, We ate fish n chips and in true Spencer style took mystery road trips by looking at a map and just driving!

Before the Summer Holidays hit We hopped on a plane to our favorite destination for the littlest twins first holiday abroad. Lanzarote is like our second home!

Towards the end of the summer Holidays we surprised the kids with a train ride to France and more importantly to Disneyland! I think me and Chris were as excited if not more than the kids. Its just so magical.

We took the kids out of school to try our hand at home schooling. there just wasn’t enough hours in the day to get everything done.

I really admire everyone who is on the home school journey but at the moment it’s not for me. I barely have any time while they are at school to get everything done that I want to.

Work, money, Blogging

Ive learnt this year that I’m shit at money. I posted through the year about our family hitting crisis point. In life and in money. Unfortunately barely anything has changed

I really need to get a grip of our finances this new year. It a big source of stress for us all.

I haven’t been consistent enough online to hit those magic “influencer” numbers. I have to realise I have a family and home that come before you all. I remembered through the year though I share our life because I like doing it. I like being creative. I have lost a little of my creativity on my insta grid lately in favour of just getting the post up for consistency. I want to use my creativity more and set up photos yes I know people see this as fake sometimes but I like the creative aspect of it. My dad when I was younger was always playing around with setting up photographs of wine and cheese boards etc.

I think that’s about it for my 2018 round up.

Thanks for joining us this year and being part of our family.

I hope you’ll stick around in 2019 for more chaos, adventures, and creativity.

Happy New Year.

Winter Term Bucket List.

So the kids have gone back to school this morning and I’m starting on my bucket list for this term.

There is 7 school weeks left of 2018 I know I can’t believe it. Where exactly did 2018 go?

There are lots of things I’d like to accomplish before the end of the year most of which are easier when the kids are at school.

So what better way to feel productive than make a list.

  • Move kids rooms. – I’m trying to move the little twins into what is now the big twins rooms and the big twins into bigger rooms that feel more separate in the hope they may not invade each other’s space as much.
  • Finish all the Christmas gifts and get them wrapped. – I always seem to be wrapping on Christmas Eve when I’m trying to also cook dinner.
  • Sort out the kids clothing. – During the last couple of months they seem to have grown a little fast. All four of them and are growing out of clothes.
  • Minimise – I don’t want to be so cluttered and unorganised in 2019 the most important thing I need to decluttering is the kids toys. Especially as I know they will be bombarded with stuff again at Christmas.

  • Hit vlogmas. – For the past few years I’ve been doing vlogmas it’s where I started my YouTube channel even if I was very nervous and a little bit quiet. This year I’d like to make my December Vlogs feel super cosy and festive and and feel like I’m as good as some of those other mummy bloggers out there.
  • Create a better schedule for myself. I want to stick a little better to a work/ life schedule. I think I’m getting there I just need some little tweaks.
  • Reach out. – Send out some emails to potential companies that I’d love to work with in 2019. Fingers crossed someone would love to work with me.

That’s my bucket list for the winter term.

I’ve not put down any family related things as I don’t really have anything I really want to do. It’s not like the summer is it where you plan trips to the seaside or days out as you never can quite predict the weather.

Wish me luck. I’ll check back at the end of term.

Do you find it helpful to write a bucket list like this or do you prefer to go with the flow?

I’m such a list person.

Very Odd Weekend with friends, bloggers and a celeb!

Friday Night’s Alright!

On Friday night Me and Spencer’s ARC Daddy (Chris) headed out with friends leaving the kids and babies with Nanny Sue!

She’s such a brave lady taking them all on!

Now the group of friends we were out with us girls met through sure start 5 years ago and our husbands hit it off too, we are so lucky to have such good friends in our lives however we have never been out as a group before without the kids!

We went to the opening night of a new showbar in Lincoln. We stayed out until 4am! I’m not sure we have ever stayed out that long before (Ok maybe when I was in my early 20’s)

BlogOn Toys

On Saturday morning me & Chris had to catch a train to Manchester for the BlogOn Conference!

I haven’t  been to a blogging conference for ages you know due to me being heavily pregnant and then poorly and then with babies so  This year I decided to head to BlogOn Toys in Manchester. The last time I went it was held at the Manchester Science Museum Now though the team are hosting it at the amazing venue of Hotel Football!

As my anxiety has been playing up recently and the fact that myself and Spencer’s ARC Daddy haven’t had much of a chance to breathe this year I decided to bring him along too! He has recently got into instagram and Is my support on this weird blogging, vlogging journey I have chosen to take!

So after a manic night early morning on Friday we got off the train still feeling a little hyper from the night before!

We met up with a few other bloggers at Wagamams I was dressed as a Christmas pudding due to us attending the Christmas party after dinner!

I did get a few stares well you would dressed in Christmas dress in September!

We didn’t stay very late at the party as we were so tired from the night before! I did hear that there were bloggers still dancing as the DJ was packing up!

Sunday morning, we headed to the conference, grabbed our epic goody bags (no it’s not a windup take a suitcase trust me!) then grabbed a sausage sandwich for breakfast, bough tombola tickets and raffle tickets then headed to the welcome chat! A very relaxed welcome, swearing and all! By Laura of Tired Mummy of Two

I chose to attend public speaking and online presenting with Sophie Mei Lan Hale  and Lee Furness. They really did throw everyone in at the deep end. I actually cried as they wanted us to do a live video there and then, I’m not sure if it was nerves or tiredness or the fact i was coming down with a cold but I didn’t have anything to say and suddenly couldn’t think of anything I was passionate about!

Next up was creating awesome GoPro videos with Alex Wing!

This talk has throughly refueled my passion for creating cinematic vlogs! I can’t wait for our next Spencer’s ARC road trip to get some footage.

After the very delicious Christmas buffet lunch complete with sausages with bacon wrapped round, and mince pies we decided to head down to the brand den!

The brand den is where us bloggers can meet up with pr companies and direct with companies to exchange details take part in some crazy competitions and check out any new products brands are wanting to promote!

After we had made the rounds picking up lots of freebies we had missed the next session wich was a Photography Hub, a chance to make some flatlay scenes and receive some advice from those that are far more advanced that me! We did manage to catch the end of the session before we nearly missed the cake break.

The cake sponsored by Partypopteenies was delicious as always and went down really well with the prosecco provided by The Co-op      During the cake break we had a chat with one of the speakers of the day non other than Alex Winters former Cbeebies presenter. Such a lovely bloke!

The last talk of the day I decided to head to how to write a book! Now I have no Idea what I would write but i think the idea of writing a book a great goal to achieve! I thought this talk may give me a little inspiration and it has so watch this space!

The end of the day is the best event! It’s the raffle We won a couple of prizes but some walked out with armfuls the raffle consisted of all the prizes from the toy awards wich us blogger had voted on throughout the day! it was an epic haul i have to say!

Both me and Spencer’s ARC daddy (who I think just tagged along for the prosecco and the selfie with another cbeebies celeb.) had a great day and are now looking forward to booking for the May conference too!

See you all in May!

And Just Like That It Was March…… Word Of The Month

February has been and gone in the blink of an eye.

The word for February was Recover – Recover from my gallbladder op, All the kids recovery from chicken pox.

I did do a little too much to soon during February lifting the babies before I was really ready. Im now 4 and half weeks post op and I think im well on the road to recovery, My stomach muscles are still a little sore as is my cut on my bra line however I think I’m through the worst.

On to March

The word of the month for March is going to be Planning.

This month I have lots of exciting things i need to plan for.

  • Planning for my blog – I have lots of ideas  for posts but I need to email brands, do some work to improve my engagement, and work out which way I am going with it in the future.
  • Planning for getting back in front of the camera – I really want to get back into vlogging and making videos, I took a break while I was pregnant and now dont seem to have the confidence to star up again.
  • Planing for Home educating – Yup. I’m going to be taking the kids out of school so we can explore the world around us a little and visit different places.
  • Planning some road trips – We have a few trips planned already but want to get some more road trips planned now we have a bigger car & more time out of term time to travel.
  • Planning new home schedules – Now I am feeling better the house needs to get into some sort of order creating schedules helps me to fit everything in.
  • Planning a christening  or two maybe? – I suppose I better get the Summer Twins christened. Lets get on Pinterest and get planning!

So as you can see lots of planning to be done. lets get cracking

Highs & Lows of 2017 – Blogger Tag!

This year has been a really big year for our family. A bit of an emotional rollercoaster.

Sometimes it’s good to reflect on the year before you turn the page to start the next.

I came across this post by Katie On Thin Ice and thought I would join in with the tag.

1. What was your happiest event? It was the day I looked at my baby twins and thought you know what. You’ve actually saved me. They are making me a better person.

2. What was the saddest thing to happen? Being told I had placenta percreta and I had to have a huge operation to get my babies out and save my life.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?. We got pregnant. Well technically we got pregnant at the end of 2016, however, found out in January then found out it was another set of twins!!

4. Who let you down? I don’t think anyone really, some of the sonographers missed my low placenta , however had I been diagnosed with my placenta issues earlier I’d have spent most of the pregnancy worrying.

5. Who supported you? First and foremost my husband who stayed with me Day and night at the hospital while I was going through my op and the before & after of the op. Also my children for being so strong and cuddling me when I feel down cheering me up and drawing pictures and writing little notes for me, Ruth my amazing anaesthetist. The rest of my family and of course my very supportive friends.

6. Tell us what you learned. That I am strong, I can do difficult things, and some things in life are more important than others!

7. Tell us what made you laugh My children. Some days they have made me cry with laughter.

8. Tell us the things that made you cry. Pregnancy, finding out I was having another set of twins, the pending operation, then a second op, tiredness, gallstone pain.

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud. Please miss this question out if you are not a parent. (Not really three things) My big Girl has made me proud most of the year by her strength she has had during my pregnancy & while I was in hospital. My boy has made me proud with how he has come on in his school work.

10. Tell us the things that made you proud of yourself. Getting through one of the toughest births.

11. Tell us the challenges you overcame. Again it’s all about my the birth of the twins. And for years I’ve need to eat more healthy. Well this year after the birth of the twins I developed gallstones. This has made me eat more healthy. I think it’s now going to be part of my lifestyle to eat better.

12. Tell us the things you would like to change about your life in 2018. I just want to be more present in the day to day. Enjoy all of my children and my husband. And make 2018 one of adventures.

1. What was your happiest event?

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?.

4. Who let you down?

5. Who supported you?

Jan – May recap June Action Plan

It’s been an odd start to the year!

Firstly we celebrated New Year at our second home Lanzarote.

  • We came home and I managed to sneak in a couple of days working at the local Theatre doing Panto (My Favourite time at the theatre)
  • Then I was late on my monthly cycle
  • So took a pregnancy test
  • Then went for an early scan to make sure there was only one
  • And we found out there were 2
  • Had a lot of tears
  • Sold my beloved Delilah – She wouldn’t have lasted another year  😦 img_1649Went back to Lanzarote for February Half Term
  • Took the twins on their first visit to London Started work on the house to prepare for an extra two people
  • Stayed in denial about the two new lives growing in my tummy
  • Attended BlogON
  • Finally bought something for the new twins

So now were in June and I need to pull on my positive pants (If they fit because of this ever-growing tummy)

I need to embrace this pregnancy and start feeling as excited as people keep telling me it is!

So I’m devising a plan!

I’m not going to lie my mental health has gone down hill since finding out about these two new people. I’m worried about PND and the hard work that it was with the last set of twins.

This month I am going to try to tick off a list of things that will help me feel more positive.

June List

  • Finish playroom decorating  ( I have enlisted the help of a decorator
  • Decorate and move the office
  • Decorate and furnish Nursery
  • Move kids toys into playroom
  • Declutter and purge kids toys  – I am currently obsessed with Allie Casazza and want to try and live a more minimal life – I’m not going as far as one plate per person (so my friends won’t need to bring a plate with them) but I’d like to adopt some concepts into our life!
  • Carrying on with the Minimalist theme I want to redo my wardrobe – I know this is not really practical at over 6 months pregnant but I know some pieces that I will probably never wear again. and when the twins arrive and I lose the bump I will be able to top up my wardrobe with some key autumn pieces (Minimalist  shopaholic!)
  • I will continue my search for the perfect but affordable vehicle for our expanding family. – We currently have a Vaxhaul Zafira which although is 7 seats, its 7 seats and not enough boot space to fit in a suitcase let alone a pushchair!  I would really like a VW Caravelle but I want to pay cash and the price for a decent one is out of our cash price range!

Events in June

  • Friends Little One’s Christening – Both Hubby and I are God Parents
  • Mum’s 65th Birthday
  • Hubby’s Dad’s 70th Birthday

So looks like a busy month I also have numerous appointments in June with Diabetes checks, consultant appointments, midwife appointments and scans all already booked in!
I have also been slacking at swimming due to focusing all my time on the decorating and building work. I think it has had an impact on my mental health so I would like to go back to swimming at least twice a week. Even it’s only just to take the weight off my bump!

What are your June plans, goals?

Do you have any tips for me to get through the month?
